When the Paris Court of Appeal recently banned four sex sites in France for not having a proper age verification system, two online child protection nonprofits that had pushed for the blocks may have thought they were about to score a major victory. But, at some point, it turned out to be yours.
As l’Informé reports, non-profit organizations have followed Iciporno, Mrsexe, Tukif and xHamster. Their complaints listed the web addresses of the sites – but on xHamster they put “fr.xhamster.com“, pointing to the French subdomain of the site.
Because of this, the court issued an order to prevent “fr.xhamster.com” — including “fr.” the beginning. This means that Internet service providers have complied with the order and blocked xHamster at the DNS level — but only with “fr.” the beginning…
So xHamster remains accessible in France… until the regulator, Arcom, finds a way to close this embarrassing loophole.
