Get $30 off the 2024 Paperwhite
The latest Kindle Paperwhite isn’t even a month old, but it’s already getting a Black Friday discount. You can pick up a new ereader for $30 off, for a final price of $130. That’s a record low since the device debuted, and it boasts faster page turns, a bigger and better screen and longer battery life.
The sixth-generation Paperwhite has a seven-inch screen, significantly larger than its 6.8-inch predecessor. Amazon has also improved the display’s contrast thanks to its oxide thin-film transistor display technology, which should help reduce eyestrain. It still has a warm glow that you can tune to match the brightness of your room. The front light on the new model gets 25 percent more brightness than the 5th-gen model. It’s one of our top student picks.

The new Paperwhite has 25 percent faster page turns than its predecessor, which Engadget’s Amy Skorheim found makes a noticeable difference in reading. (The review was of the more expensive Signature Edition, but it has the same page shift.) At 7.8mm thick, this is the thinnest Paperwhite to date.
The ereader still has IPX8 water resistance, and the device uses a new rubber texture that makes it easier to hold. Amazon estimates that its battery will last 12 weeks on each charge. It ships with a USB-C cable (but no power brick).
You can also save on the new regular Kindle on sale for $85 (down from $110). Although that model skips in warm light and has a small screen, it gives you the lightest and most compact reader for the price.
