How can the digital “you” sit through your painful web conference calls

[ad_1]

Now you can be seen on a Zoom call in your office, even if you’re sipping a margarita in a hammock far, far away. Courtesy of a months-old startup called Pickle, your pitch is simple: just upload your five-minute training video to create an image, and within 24 hours, you’re good to go. Do you want to drive your friends from the car? No problem. Too lazy to get out of bed? No problem. At the beach club? You’re probably pushing it, or judging by the demo video, it’s also good if no one on the phone is paying much attention to “you.” (The service currently comes in basic, standard, and pro versions, ranging from about $300 per year to $1,150 per year.)

Backed by LA-based startup Krew Capital, the technology currently only works with MacOS, Pickle said, though he says a Windows version is coming next month. As for the conferencing apps users can choose from, these include Zoom, Google Meet and Teams, Pickle said, adding on his site that “due to high demand, the production of clones is currently delayed.”
