Meta recommends a 4:5 Aspect ratio

[ad_1]
In the past, I discussed how using 4:5 instead of 1:1 was successful in some areas.
Yes, Meta actually recommends it now. Let’s discuss…
Creative Upload Process
When you upload your ad art, Meta recommends three limited looks:
Meta applies these visibility ratings to different placement groups. But this process is in dire need of revision because these groups are against many of Meta’s recommendations.
Meta Recommendations
An example is the placement of the Facebook Feed. On Best Practices for Aspect Ratios, Meta says:
Vertical 4:5 is recommended for single image ads to be delivered in Facebook Feed ad placement.
There is also a handy grid that gives the accepted and recommended aspect ratio.
Meta recommends 4:5 for the following placements:
- Facebook feed
- Instagram feed
- Facebook video feeds
- Instagram Explore Home
- Videos Can Be Streamed On Facebook
In most cases, this is for both photos and videos.
Process Needs Review
It doesn’t mean that square art won’t work, but 4:5 will take up more sales space. That should help the performance.
Indeed, this highlights how chaotic the current process is by loading different ratings for different placement groups. To keep up with what Meta recommends, you’ll need to customize your placement. That defeats the purpose of placement teams.
Side note: Many advertisers have been using 1:1 in the Right Hand Column placement for a while now, despite Meta putting it in the group that suggests 1.91:1. However, the grid specifies that Meta actually recommends 1:1 for that placement.
