‘Dune: The Prophecy’ episode 2: Sister Lila’s prophecy, explained

Another episode of Dune: Prophecy says another mysterious prophecy to destroy.
The prophecy of episode 2 comes with the help of Sister Lila (Chloe Lea), a young acolyte in the Sisterhood who made the decision to perform the dangerous ritual known as The Agony long before she was ready.
During the Pain, Sister takes a poison known as the Water of Life, which comes from sand worms. Thanks to years of physical training, a well-prepared Sister should be able to eliminate toxins from her body. That process will unlock her genetic memory, making her Mother Teacher. We’ve seen this trend before Dune: Part Twowhen Lady Jessica (Rebecca Ferguson) successfully transforms the Water of Life and becomes the Mother Teacher to the Fremen.
However, failure to convert the Water of Life means death. That’s why inexperienced acolytes like Lila don’t take it. So why submit to it?
As we read in episode 2, Lila is a descendant of the Sisterhood’s founder Mother Superior Raquella Berto-Anirul (Cathy Tyson), who first predicted the coming count known as Tiran-Arafel. Current Mother Superior Valya Harkonnen (Emily Watson) and her sister, Reverend Mother Tula Harkonnen (Olivia Williams), hope that if Lila can unlock her genetic memory and connect with Raquella, she will be able to bring wisdom that will help the Sisterhood. overcome the coming trials.
What is Sister Lila’s prophecy, and what does it mean?
Yes, the plan goes awry as expected. Lila, being brave, is overcome by the Water of Life. Before he does, however, he delivers a terrifying prophecy – not from Mother Raquella but from Raquella’s granddaughter, Dorotea (Camilla Beeput). Dorotea talks about Lila revealing, “The key to counting a person born twice. Once in blood. Once in spice. A souvenir full of scars. A weapon born of war, on the shortest path.”
So who are you talking about? We know from whom Dune: Prophecy who is born twice?
As of now, all signs point to soldier Desmond Hart (Travis Fimmel). Like all humans, he was born of blood, but was reborn again in the desert of Arrakis, when he was swallowed by a worm. Given that Arrakis is the only planet where spice melange exists, and that sandworms are an integral part of spice production, Hart’s experience with Shai-Hulud feels as close to being born with spice as you can get. He also has several scars on his face, and as a soldier, he is the definition of a “weapon born of war.”
However, there is one word in Lila’s prophecy that could change everything: “revenant.” That word can refer to a person who has come back to life. Or can refer to another part of Frank Herbert A mound story: grandma.
Could Desmond Hart be a veteran?
A ghola is actually a human clone, but instead of being made from living tissue, a ghola is replicated from dead tissue. Pretty gnarly, right? They were formed by a group known as the Bene Tleilaxu, and played a major role in it Dune Messiah and so on.
Therefore, with the concept of “revenant” on the table, it is possible Dune: Prophecy Does it mean that the Desmond we meet on the show is actually a senior? Maybe the original Desmond died from a sandworm attack – which seems really unlikely to survive, as cool as that would be – after which his corpse became the basis of his ghola. Add some genetic manipulation during the ghola creation process, and progress, looking at Desmond’s firepower.
Of course, this is all just speculation, and Desmond Hart could be as strong as he says he is. Or the prophecy points to someone else entirely, and Desmond is just a red herring. But for now, who else do we know who is reborn with spices? We’re looking at you, Desmond!
